LAS VEGAS—Textron Aviation has been awarded FAA certification for two aircraft: its Citation CJ3 Gen 2 and Citation M2 Gen2, the company announced during NBAA-BACE 2025.
For both models, entry into service is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The CJ3 Gen2 completed 445 flight hours in testing. The aircraft features Garmin 3000 software with autothrottle technology; an optional Enhanced Vision System; GDL60 for aircraft connectivity; an additional 4.5 in. of legroom for pilots; a fully customizable cabin; and other features.
The Citation M2 Gen2 light jet’s test program with autothrottles, meanwhile, completed nearly 300 flight-test hours and numerous certification tests, the company said, and adhered to stringent standards set by Textron Aviation and the FAA. The M2 Gen2 includes the Garmin 3000 and autothrottle system to optimize engine power, simplify flight management and increase operating efficiency.
The certifications are the next step in the history of the CJ3 and M2. In 2024, Textron Aviation announced the next generation of light jets that included the Citation M2 Gen3, the CJ3 Gen3 and the CJ4 Gen3 with Garmin’s emergency Autoland feature.
The CJ4 Gen3 is expected to enter service in 2026, followed by the M2 Gen3 and CJ3 Gen3 in 2027.
